This is me trying things - specifically looking to see if it's possible to upload a document...
Hm...
I see that we're allowed 60,000 characters in these messages, which I'm guessing would come to 5-10,000 words - more than enough for anything we'd work with. So... maybe if someone wanted to post a story, they'd just copy and paste it into a message.
Still, it would be better as a document.
Nick - any ideas? So far this all looks good.

yeah the plan was for people to copy/paste their work into the message box, i think it's fairly difficult to post a downloadable file on a forum. Worst case scenario people could post links to download sites that WOULD allow them to download them, or links to sites like Deviantart.com which have no character limit, and people could link to other things like artwork and such. Also there is the option to print a post, so if someone posted a chapter to a book in a thread, someone could print it out.

This is a forum, so you could presumably add documents as attachments but that'd require downloading to read which would be mildly annoying. As Nick said, we could use something like DeviantArt or Scribd to host our stuff and then link to it. I think that might be the best way to do things just because scrolling through threads of 10,000 words per post can be potentially pretty annoying.

I've offered a poem so far and I simply chose to type it out as a post. Would it be sensible to continue to do this for future reference? I'm left with the impression that the difficulty previously spoken of would be for short stories or longer pieces. I'm interested in any feedback in any case.
I guess I'm just trying out the site, too.

At this point in time, I've offered a total of four poems and I'll estimate adding to them every other week or so. I hope that some comments may be offered and I will appreciate the knowledge and critiques from others.
